For posterity I'm posting this so any one in the future is searching for tool for this, like I was and couldn't find anything, then hopefully this will return in the search results. It can fully customize your file settings bit rate, bit depth, sample frequency, etc, etc. I mean 100 samples in a couple of seconds. So anyway, after all that I stumbled upon another free utility in the App Store called Switch Audio Converter. But if you already have one of those and just need conversion, its overkill, For someone looking for a full featured waveform editing program its definitely worth a look. I did find Twised Wave recommended in a thread on GS, but after checking it out its $70.
Installed it and - nothing - didn't work at all.

BEST BATCH MUSIC CONVERTER FOR MAC FOR MAC
Music Convert is a little utility I found on the Apple App Store, and at first glance it looks great, it has solid reviews and does what I need. MediaHuman, Apple Music Converter, and TuneMobie Apple Music Converter for Mac are probably your best bets out of the 3 options considered. Even if your output folder is different than the source it still keeps renaming, and is so slow to launch. Its online so it does not require you to download. AME again was just a baffling way to implement batch processing - it insists on renaming the files (which I don't want, I'd prefer an option to overwrite). Zamzar is a free online audio converter that supports all the common music and audio formats. VLC couldn't manage bit rate conversion, neither could Adapter (which otherwise was a very good looking tool). Audacity was just clunky, the Batch operation was so opaque and weird, and I just couldn't get it to work as advertised. In my tests I tried:Įvery one of them fell short in one regard or other.
